Went to orientation for my doctoral program today and am now utterly spun. Oh man, that have I gotten myself INto??? Not intimidated by the other students, but the intensity and competativeness of the program and the sheer scope of the thing has me cowed. So much change and it's going to go on and on and ON for four or five years! I do like change, I think it's fun, but there's such a thing as a threshold...
So it was all very heady and exciting, but I am thoroughly rubberized by the research part and competition for predoctoral internships (4th year is a full time job at an approved site which requires a top notch CV to get). I specifially chose a PsyD rather than a PhD to avoid the research and publish aspect, but there is much of it in this program anyway. Breathe... breathe... I am one of THEM now, with amazing scores and honors on my transcripts, not US with the piss poor undergrad scores I had to present to the world a few years ago. I can DO this!
Ok, well I'm off to go puke behind the couch. Graduate school is definitely for masochists.
